Research in the Department of Computing

The Department of Computing is a leading centre in the UK for the study of Computer Science within Creative, Cognitive and Social contexts. We are leaders and partners on a variety of research projects and key alliances with other universities (including Cambridge University, MIT, Brown University, Leeds University, and Kings College London) cultural institutions (we work with several museums including Tate Modern), and creative and telecommunications industries. Our research is funded by the EPSRC, Arts Council England, the AHRB, the European Space Agency and the European Union (through the Sixth Framework Programme).

The Department is an integral part of two new multi-disciplinary College-wide research centres: the Centre for Cognition, Computation and Culture, and Goldsmiths Digital Studios. The Digital Studios is stretched across two sites, one of which is part of the Ben Pimlott Building that has recently opened on the Goldsmiths Campus and the other is on the BT research campus at Martlesham, as BT is one of our strategic partners.

Regular seminars are held in the department. Non-members of the Department are welcome.
